Most Popular Food Truck Items

In our previous blog post, we talked about the reasons why you should get a food truck for your next event. Indeed, food trucks have become increasingly widespread over the years, but it’s not just the mobility or aesthetic vibes that are to credit. So, what exactly is it? The food, of course. Because let’s face it, not even the kindest and most cheerful staff nor the most affordable prices would be enough to have repeat customers who loyally support your brand.

At the end of the day, it still comes down to whether they enjoyed the food that’s been served to them. After all, it’s not the live music experience that they came for, right?

With that in mind, let’s go over some of the most popular food truck items, shall we?

  1. Ice cream

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise that there are also food trucks specialising in different ice cream dessert recipes here, what with the hot temperature that we’re experiencing every single day—regardless of what season it is and which region you are from. Statistics show that Australia’s ice cream consumption skyrockets the months following September, though, just in time for some of the hottest months of the year. Setting those aside, long gone are the days in which you can only choose between cones and cups because food trucks have come up with a lot of ingenious ways to serve the frozen delight. In addition, as people continue to be more and more conscious about their food intake, more and more food trucks have likewise started offering variants that are low in sugar and even vegan-friendly.

  • Foreign street cuisine

While the travel restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic might stop you from going on a trip to other countries, the good thing is that it won’t hinder you from sampling authentic foreign street food—courtesy of Australia’s food truck scene. Food truck owners have been continuously innovating to bring you the flavours of the world, and the best part is that some of these owners are actually natives of the countries whose cuisines they serve. Therefore, you can rest assured that you are getting the exact same products served in their respective countries of origin. Here are some of the most delectable foreign cuisines served in Australian food trucks:

  • Japanese Cuisine

Modern-day popular culture heavily involves a lot of Japanese influences. We’re talking about manga, anime, J-rock, and basically, everything else that first comes to people’s minds upon hearing the country. That’s not all that Japan has to offer, though, because their cuisine is just as iconic! Takoyaki, which are octopus balls that are glazed in special sauce and mayonnaise and further sprinkled with bonito flakes and seaweed, is one of the prominent Japanese street foods that’s quickly rising in popularity here in Australia.

  • Brazilian Cuisine

If you’re looking to eat something from somewhere a whole lot farther than East Asia, say no more because there are lots of Brazilian dishes that have made their way to the Australian continent. Among these are prato feito, a Brazilian staple dish that typically consists of rice, beans, fries, meat, and salad; choripan, which, when you think about it, is basically chorizo (spicy Spanish sausage) served on a pan (the Spanish word for “bread”), and; coxinha, a teardrop-shaped chicken croquette that originated in Rio de Janeiro.

  • Belgian Cuisine

Just like the two previous cuisines, we’re pretty sure Belgium’s is just as amazing, though a lot of their traditional food has yet to go as mainstream. As of writing, Australia has only been blessed with Belgian waffles that come in a wide variety of flavours. Whether you’re a fan of Nutella, bananas, vanilla ice cream—or a heavenly combination of all three, there’s surely a flavour to satisfy each and every customer.

  • Middle Eastern Cuisine

We know we’re not the only fans of knafeh and shawarma here! The former is a crispy and buttery pastry that encases some form of cheese (it varies depending on the region). It is drizzled with syrup and topped with crushed pistachios for added texture. On the other hand, shawarma is a Levantine Arab dish that’s already gone worldwide with its appetising thin-cut meat that’s served on a cone of pita bread. Amazing is quite an understatement to describe the experience of eating shawarma.

  • Burgers

How many times have you been to a city where there are numerous food trucks and not once seen one that sells burgers? We’re willing to bet never. Burgers are arguably the most popular item on any menu, so it only makes sense that they would be almost ubiquitous among street vendors as well. The question is: why do we love burgers so much? Well, we can think of two reasons, which are similarly the reasons as to why people love food trucks: affordability and convenience. Burgers are sold at an incredibly cheap price, and in comparison, to most restaurant entrees, they are a whole lot more inexpensive. Thus, making them a great contender among the options that you have for your next meal! Not only that, but convenience is also a huge factor as to why burgers are so addictive. You can eat them even when you’re on the go and don’t have time to settle down for a meal because you won’t need to use utensils anyway!

Now, you’re probably wondering what sets Shorty’s apart from the others—as in, why should you choose to get a burger from Shorty’s when a lot of other food trucks offering the same menu anyway? That’s a good question. Shorty’s is made for foodies by fellow foodies. To us, this isn’t just a business—making food is our passion and our burgers are something that we’d love to share with everybody. We always strive to find ways to further satisfy your palates, and on top of all that, we use only the most exceptional meat that’s procured locally.  Now, the question is, why SHOULDN’T you get a burger from Shorty’s?

  • French fries

Everyone knows that the best side dish to have with burgers is French fries, which is why most food trucks selling burgers also serve the beloved food item. If you are a huge fan of this combo, then look no farther than Shorty’s to satisfy your cravings! And you know what the best part is? We don’t just serve the typical, boring fries. Ours are drizzled with lots of cheese sauce and sprinkled with bits of bacon for that extra chewy feel. If you could resist our loaded fries’ mouthwatering goodness, though, know that we have other side dishes to go along with our burgers. Choose your fighter: is it going to be our 6x Dorito-crusted chicken breast nuggets doused in Shorty’s spicy mayo or our savoury chips seasoned with sumac and chicken salt? Whichever you choose, trust us when we say that you’re in for a roller coaster ride of different flavours.
